Excursions from Nerja
Nerja is a great place from which to view the many attractions in Andalucia. Here we have listed several interesting places to visit including Granada, Seville, and Cordoba.
We always recommend that you hire a car at Malaga Airport for the duration of your holiday (it is better value than getting a taxi!) however, if you are not hiring a car or if you just prefer to take an organized excursion there are a few companies who provide an excellent service, view a list of companies that provide excursions in our Nerja Directory.
Granada and the Alhambra Palace
A visit to Granada is always an unforgettable experience, there are many attractions in Granada City including the Cathedral, the Royal Chapel, the Alcaiceria and the Moorish market. A visit to the Alhambra Palace is "must see" experience, see the photo to right, which shows a part of the beautiful gardens. A local guide is always available to explain the most interesting details of this wonderful place with it's artwork, architecture and gardens.
Seville
One of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Seville offers history and architecture, with it's Plaza de Espaøa (Spanish Square), the old Jewesh Quarters, and a magnificent cathedral which dates back 600 years and is the 3rd biggest in the world!
Ronda
One of the oldest cities in Spain, Ronda has many attractions including it's cathedral and the famous bull ring which is the oldest in Spain. The Gorge of El Tajo is another well-known landmark where a stone bridge joins two cliffs 300 meters above the River Guadalevín, this offers visitors various viewpoints of the famous gorge.
The Rock of Gibraltar
The Rock of Gibraltar is situated off the coast at the most southern point of Spain. Gibraltar offers both a shopping and sightseeing experience. A tour of the rock consists of a visit to Martin's Caves along with fantastic views from the rock. A visit to the rock of Gibraltar is not complete without meeting its famous apes. A trip around gibraltar's specatular bay in now available which offers a chance to see dolphins, whales, turtles and flying fish.

Cordoba
Cordoba was once the old Moorish capital of Spain. It is home to the fabulous Alcazar (royal palace) with it's fantastic Roman mosaics. Nearby is the old Arab market area. The historic Jewish quarters of Cordoba are also worth a visit along with it’s synagogue. If you come to Cordoba, you must see the world famous “Mezquita” which is a mosque, but within it is a cathedral with a mass of delicate columns. Cordoba city is a fantastic place to wander around, with it's labyrinth of streets and cultural tapas bars.
Alpujarras
Southern Spain's Alpujarras mountain ranges provide an abundance of scenery and colours, depending on what time of year you visit. In the summer expect Red and Yellow, Green in the Spring, and white mountain peaks throughout the winter. A small picturesque mountain village called Pampaneira provides a unique shopping experience where locally produced products are available such as fig-sweets, almonds, cheese and handicrafts. Wear comfortable footwear as Pampaneira is full of steep, cobbled streets.
