Nerja Information

nerja information
Nerja is situated fifty kilometres away from Malaga on the N340 coastal highway, and is the most eastern tip of the Costa del Sol. With dramatic mountain range Sierra Almijara to the east the town has managed to retain its traditional Spanish feel, which so many other coastal resorts have lost. Charming Andalucian houses with iron terraces and overflowing gardens line the cobbled streets.

The heart of Nerja is the ‘Paseo Balcon de Europa’, which is a wide palm-fringed promenade built over an old Moorish fortress. From the end of the Balcon breathtaking views of the coastline and mountains can be seen. From here you can take a horse and carriage ride and take in the sights of this beautiful town. At night this part of Nerja comes alive, as many of the towns best restaurants and bars are situated nearby.

The town offers a wealth of bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes and ages alike, with a wide range of cuisines such as Italian, Chinese, Indian, English and of course, Spanish.

The best place to sample Spanish cuisine at its finest is a restaurant on Burriana Beach called ‘Chiringuito de Ayo’. Here a massive paella is cooked over an open fire on the beach, which presents the perfect background for your evening meal. The nightlife in Nerja is mainly based around eating, however late evening markets are scattered around the town.
